Classical Columns: Colosseum

Wings3D + POV-Ray 3.6, 2004

Still learning Wings3D… this time to create architectural elements, like columns and capitels.

After looking at a very realistic render by Craftwerk Graphic using trueSpace (no longer available on the web), I was inspired enough to try that sort of simple columns with Wings3D. For the texture I used a free pic of a wall from ImageAfter, wich was proceduralized and mapped apropiately on each side.

I also tested a technique to create media in two steps, and later postprocessing both images. Below you can see the result (columns-13b) and the mask image generated in the second pass (columns-13b-media).
